Optical sensors on the back of the watch flash LED light, detect the blood flow under the skin, and measure heart rate. The heart rate monitor determines the data using an optical light sensor, measuring up to 220bpm. The light from the LED penetrates the skin and the blood vessels underneath. Depending on the volume of blood, the light is absorbed or reflected. The optical sensor measures the reflecting light, whereby the current pulse can be determined.
In addition further sensors on the watch measure acceleration (step counter), magnetic direction (compass), pressure (altimeter/barometer), and temperature (thermometer). These five high-accuracy sensor functions measure the state of activity in real time and especially outdoors.
Acquires data of current location from GPS satellite, measures distance travelled, speed, and pace. Once you receive the GPS signal, it measures accurately on every single second or on every minute (consumes less energy). Switch easily between these modes for different activities. For a long walk e.g. less accuracy is required compared to a run. Depending on the measuring mode selected you can safe battery and extend battery life. In addition to GPS, the watch acquires data from GLONASS and Michibiki satellite systems. You can just record your track but not navigate to a target.
Time mode (includes step tracker and notification function) can be powered with solar charging alone. When charged about eight hours every day under indoor fluorescent lighting (500 lux), and charged on a sunny day for two hours in a week (10,000 lux).
Continous operation within time mode (includes step tracker and notification functions) can be used up to 12 months without solar power.
Training mode (GPS with 1 sec. reception + HRM) can be used continuously for up to 14 hours on a full charged battery.
Uses heart rate and running speed to calculate the maximum consumable oxygen uptake per kilogram of bodyweight in one minute (ml/kg/min). It reflects the process of bringing oxygen into your body throughout your lungs into your muscles. This can be used as a benchmark for cardiorespiratory ability when you are trying to build endurance for running or other sports. The higher your VO2max score, the better is your health, quality of life and performance. Measuring your performance capacity it is also important for personalizing your calorie counts and training programs.
Uses a waterproof charging terminal and delivers 20-bar water resistance even with a built-in optical sensor that measures heart rate at the wrist. The shock-resistant structure protects the module. A complex rugged shape prevents direct shock to glass and buttons.

You can easily create weekly workouts tailored to prior goal setting such as full marathon entry and fitness improvement. You can also set target heart rate zone, training time, and running distance from the menu display and send the heart rate zone to the watch to use it as an indicator for your training.
Interval training such as HIIT or Tabata workouts can be manually set via G-SHOCK Move app and transferred to the watch. You can set up to 8x sets and 5x rounds. Between each round and set you'll be acoustically informed with a signal tone.
Training log data management
The data analysed by the watch is clearly displayed and managed in the app. You can detect changes in your fitness level and training status and use them to indicate training results and use them to build your future strategy.
Life log, activity history, lap data, training analysis
