The first G-SHOCK with heart rate monitor

Heart Rate Monitor & Quad Sensor

Optical sensors on the back of the watch flash LED light, detect the blood flow under the skin, and measure heart rate. The heart rate monitor determines the data using an optical light sensor, measuring up to 220bpm. The light from the LED penetrates the skin and the blood vessels underneath. Depending on the volume of blood, the light is absorbed or reflected. The optical sensor measures the reflecting light, whereby the current pulse can be determined.

In addition further sensors on the watch measure acceleration (step counter), magnetic direction (compass), pressure (altimeter/barometer), and temperature (thermometer). These five high-accuracy sensor functions measure the state of activity in real time and especially outdoors.

GPS Functionality

Acquires data of current location from GPS satellite, measures distance travelled, speed, and pace. Once you receive the GPS signal, it measures accurately on every single second or on every minute (consumes less energy). Switch easily between these modes for different activities. For a long walk e.g. less accuracy is required compared to a run. Depending on the measuring mode selected you can safe battery and extend battery life. In addition to GPS, the watch acquires data from GLONASS and Michibiki satellite systems. You can just record your track but not navigate to a target.

Solar-Assisted Charging

Time mode (includes step tracker and notification function) can be powered with solar charging alone. When charged about eight hours every day under indoor fluorescent lighting (500 lux), and charged on a sunny day for two hours in a week (10,000 lux).

Continous operation within time mode (includes step tracker and notification functions) can be used up to 12 months without solar power.

Training mode (GPS with 1 sec. reception + HRM) can be used continuously for up to 14 hours on a full charged battery.

VO2max Measurement

Uses heart rate and running speed to calculate the maximum consumable oxygen uptake per kilogram of bodyweight in one minute (ml/kg/min). It reflects the process of bringing oxygen into your body throughout your lungs into your muscles. This can be used as a benchmark for cardiorespiratory ability when you are trying to build endurance for running or other sports. The higher your VO2max score, the better is your health, quality of life and performance. Measuring your performance capacity it is also important for personalizing your calorie counts and training programs.

Water & Shock Resistance

Uses a waterproof charging terminal and delivers 20-bar water resistance even with a built-in optical sensor that measures heart rate at the wrist. The shock-resistant structure protects the module. A complex rugged shape prevents direct shock to glass and buttons.

Buttons
The design combines resin and metal with enlarged measurement buttons. The other buttons are dual-colored with non-slip design for easy operation.

Case back cover and band piece
The fine resin back cover with a curved surface and the urethane band piece ensure a smooth fit with the back of the hand.

Soft Urethane Band
Uses soft, easy-fitting materials, provides improved ventilation with plenty of band holes, and allows fine length adjustments.

Smartphone App - Easy operation of various watch functions

Training plan

You can easily create weekly workouts tailored to prior goal setting such as full marathon entry and fitness improvement. You can also set target heart rate zone, training time, and running distance from the menu display and send the heart rate zone to the watch to use it  as an indicator for your training.

Intervall Workouts
Interval training such as HIIT or Tabata workouts can be manually set via G-SHOCK Move app and transferred to the watch. You can set up to 8x sets and 5x rounds. Between each round and set you'll be acoustically informed with a signal tone.

Training log data management
The data analysed by the watch is clearly displayed and managed in the app. You can detect changes in your fitness level and training status and use them to indicate training results and use them to build your future strategy.

Life log, activity history, lap data, training analysis

Displays list of data for each activity with running distance,time, pace, and calories burned, also a map of your route is available.

Optical heart rate monitoring
An optical sensor on the back of the watch case measures the heart rate on the wrist using light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The measured values are displayed on the watch.
Acceleration sensor
The motion sensor responds to acceleration and shows this as a speed on the display. The sensor also supports the auto rotation function of the watch, ensuring that the image is always displayed the right way up on the display.
Steptracker
The watch has a built-in 3-axis accelerometer that counts the steps you take and indicates the numbers on the display.
GPS speed-distance measurement
High-tech for demanding runners: The watch uses GPS technology to measure the current running speed and distance covered. All data are individually indicated on the display.
Digital-compass
A built-in direction sensor detecs the magnetic north.
Barometer (260 / 1.100 hPa)
A special sensor measures the air pressure (measuring range: 260 / 1100 hPa) and presents this on the display in the form of a symbol. This enables early detection of weather trends.
Thermometer (-10°C / +60°C)
A sensor measures the ambient temperature around the watch and displays it in °C (-10°C /+60°C).

4 daily alarms
The daily alarm reminds you about recurring events with an acoustic signal at the time you have set. This model has four independent alarms for flexible reminders of important appointments.
Snooze feature
Each time you stop the alarm, it sounds again after a few minutes.
Vibration alert
The vibration alarm discreetly reminds you of important appointments, without emitting a loud signal.
Button tones on/off
The button tones for using the mode button can be turned off. This means that the watch no longer beeps when switching from one function to another. Preset alarm or countdown timers remain active when the button tones are deactivated.

Airplane Mode (Offline Mode)

Is the size similar to the Rangeman (GPR-B1000)?
No, the GBD-H1000 is a little bit smaller (55 mm width) and ligther (101 g) than the Rangemann (57,7 mm width by 142 g).
Will the watch display moon and tide graph?
No. However, if you need other outdoor related sensors, the GBD-H1000 features barometer, altimeter and a compass.
How big is the diameter?
The diameter is about 26mm
Will there be additional straps for customization?
Currently there are no changeable straps planned.
How accurate is the GPS, can I navigate to a certain target?
Once you receive the GPS signal, it measures accurately on every single second. In addition to GPS, the watch acquires data from GLONASS and Michibiki satellite systems. You can just record your track but not navigate to a target.
How accurate is the Heart Rate Monitor (HRM)?
The heart rate monitor determines the data using an optical light sensor, measuring up to 220bpm. This technology is used by most manufacturers today because it is relatively accurate and supports people who train and track their performances. The light from the LED penetrates the skin and the blood vessels underneath. Depending on the volume of blood, the light is absorbed or reflected. The optical sensor measures the reflecting light, whereby the current pulse can be determined. For an ECG-accurate measurement, of course, you have to go to a doctor, only doctors can do reliable ECG-accurate measurements, because several measuring points are necessary for this. But the heart rate data measured with the optical sensor ​​are completely sufficient for tracking your training performance in everyday life.
Will there be a different App then "G-SHOCK Connected"?
Yes, the new app is called "G-SHOCK Move" and will be available with the release of the watch.
Will the watch track my sleep time, phases of sleep?
No, but after the workout, the app calculates the recommended recovery time based on the intensity of the workout
Can I reply to e-mails and sms via watch?
No, you cannot enter text. E-mails, SMS but also incoming calls can be displayed on screen.
Will the display be toucheable?
No, actually it 's an energy-saving and easy-to-read MIP (memory in pixel) display which is operated by using the buttons or the app. This display technique supports especially the long battery life.
When do I need to recharge the battery, after running with GPS and Heart Rate Monitor (HRM)?

Will the watch display burned calories?
Yes, the GBD-H1000 displays burned calories. Calories burned are calculated in two ways. In the regular watch mode calories are calculated in relation to the steps being tracked. During training mode calories burned are calculated according to heart rate monitored.
