Rapid Surf League 2019

powered by G-SHOCK

The RAPID SURF LEAGUE unites the best European Rapid Surfers in a tour across Europe. Our tour stops happen on different stationary wave systems some semi natural, some artificial.Goal of the Rapid Surf League is to crown a surfer (male / female) at the end of the tour. The surfer who performed best over all different wave systems.

RAPID SURFING - A SPORT OF ITS OWN

It doesn’t matter whether it’s artificial moving waves or stationary waves: RAPID SURFING has the same specific requirements for competitors and judges alike.

These are the criteria on which we judge a run of approximately roughly 30 seconds or one ride:

- LINES I DEPTH AND VARIABILITY (20% OR 2 / 10 POINTS)

- MANOUVERS I TURNS AND TRICKS (50% OR 5 / 10 POINTS)

- OVERALL I POP AND SPEED (30% OR 3 / 10 POINTS)

“Lines” determine the quality of the lines surfed between drop in and kick out. Depth means the area covered by the surfer. Variability means the different lines a surfer has to offer on a wave.

“Manoeuvres” mean the artistry a surfer fits into his lines. Turns mean the number of different  manoeuvres in which the board is manoeuvred over rails and fins with the goal of changing direction. Tricks mean everything in which the surfer turns the board more than 180° against the direction he surfs in or performs aerial manoeuvres.

“Overall” gives the judge the possibility to judge the quality of the performance. Pop means the intensity with which the surfer performs his manoeuvres. Speed judges the connection of the individual manoeuvres in one run and how radical they are strung together by using the rail of the board.
